Can some one tell me maximum number of Managed Object supported by WebNMS ?

Please note that WebNMS can scale million MOs.

Please read the WebNMS Data sheet (pdf) which has finer details.

Do number of Managed object creation is limited with license provided?

Yes Manjula

The limit for the number of Managed Object is specified in the License xml file.

Hi,

Can you help me how to implement multithreaded client server communication in webnms. (ie) to maintain separate queue for each client. Once Client sends the request to server, it should process and send the response to only the requested client. Same to be implemented when Multi Clients are connected.

Hi,

The client server communication happens through separate session from the server and there is a separate thread maintained per session. Also, by default the request from a client will be handled to that client alone, unless it is not changing any of the objects parmeters. I would like you to check the sample provided in default_impl/client_server_communication for implementing your own client server communication. also, for further queries please get back to the nms-support@webnms.com, with the details on how you are using WebNMS, device detaIls, and other information that can help us to help you better.

HI,

Is there a option in WebNMS where a user login with an user id, other operator using the same user id to login should be prevented.

A similar question is asked earlier in WebNMS forums and we had suggested a change.

When the user closes the session without doing an explicit log out, like LAN disconnection do the above mentioned approach will work. Actually while implementation was not working. Where does this getActiveUsers gets the data is it stored in database? Kindly provide me a alternate solution.

Note: It is a windows based webnms 4.7

Please note that the information of the client which gets disconnected through cable pull-out will be updated in the server only after 5 minutes.

(You can reduce this as follows:
We have a parameter KEEPALIVE_WINDOW_SIZE as an argument to NmsMainFE process in NmsProcessesBE.conf which is by default set to 30000 (30 seconds).

Please reduce this interval (as highlighted below) and carry out the same test:

PROCESS com.adventnet.nms.startnms.NmsMainFE

ARGS CLIENT_SERVER SSL KEEPALIVE_WINDOWS_SIZE 12000

You can further reduce this to 6000 or below).

The getActiveUsers returns value from server's memory and NOT from database.
Note that this is the only API which returns the connected users' information.

P.S. Since 4.7.x is already EOL-ed last year, please upgrade your EMS to 5.2.
